Position Title: Partnerships Coordinator

Department: Programs

Reports to: Director of Learning and Engagement

 

Position Summary

The Partnerships Coordinator will be at the center of NLM’s work to coordinate diverse partnerships with external organizations and individuals that will impact exhibition, program and implementation through a community co-curation model. The Partnerships Coordinator will lead outreach with identified partners, research new partnerships, build relationships, manage partnership projects, liaise with multiple stakeholders, and evaluate and refine engagement strategies and efforts. The Partnerships Coordinator will facilitate working sessions between NLM and external partners that involve attentive listening and dialogue, generate and assess ideas, and improve clarity about the partnership, shared vision, and next steps. The Partnerships Coordinator will work closely with museum staff, advisory groups, and consultants to ensure a smooth process.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and cultivate strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement
  • Lead meetings and working sessions with NLM staff, stakeholders, and partners
  • Synthesize key points and findings from meetings and working sessions and develop reports
  • Contribute to the development of a strategic community co-curation model for NLM’s exhibitions and programs

In collaboration with other museum staff, the Partnerships Coordinator will build on NLM’s current relationships and foster new ones, resulting in:

  • Effective and transformative processes for public participation in museum exhibition planning and implementation.
  • Increased public access to resources and cultural/civic enrichment.
  • Greater visibility and problem-solving related to issues, challenges, and strengths that are important to partners.
  • Strengthened museum presence and leadership as a resource for individuals with diverse perspectives and experiences to engage in civil discourse.

 

Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Project management experience required
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to engage diverse perspectives in constructive dialogue and develop content that is accessible and approachable to a wide range of individuals
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Two or more years of experience developing and managing multiple partnerships, projects, perspectives, and goals at the same time
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred, but not required

 

Salary  

This is a grant-funded, 2-year term position with the possibility of extension depending on future funding. Salary is negotiable with experience in a range of $47-57,000.

Position Title: School Programs Manager

Department: Programs

Reports to: Director of Learning and Engagement

 

Position Summary

The School Programs Manager facilitates the development of NLM’s school-based programs, including field trips, educator open houses, teacher professional development, educator resources and lesson plans, and the signature Young Heroes Outreach Program. They lead the administration, logistics, production, and evaluation of teacher and student programs and serve as the primary point of contact for NLM’s teacher audience. In collaboration with the Director of Learning and Engagement, the School Program Manager is responsible for the strategic growth and development of NLM’s school programs, in alignment with plans identified in the Museum’s 5-year strategic plan.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce and manage innovative school programs for students and teachers that meet and complement curricular needs in grades 4-12 and align with best practices in civic education
  • Monitor budgeting, documentation, evaluation, and assessment of all school-based programs, and contribute to reports tracking programming and outreach progress
  • With the Director of Learning and Engagement, manage the successful strategic growth and expansion of school programs
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with local and regional schools and cultivate NLM’s network of teachers, administrators, school faculty, and other youth-focused partners
  • Supervise the full-time Museum Educator and School Programs Associate position and support other full-time Museum Educators in delivery of school programs
  • Work closely with the Visitor Services team to establish effective on-site field trip experiences
  • Work closely with the Exhibitions team as an advocate for student and teacher audiences, contributing to development of exhibition content and interactives and ensuring exhibitions meet learning goals
  • Assist the Development team with tracking, writing, budgeting, and reporting on school programs for grant and fundraising purposes
  • Disseminate learning and best practices developed throughout our various school-based initiatives at conferences, seminars, and other appropriate forums
  • Represent NLM in local, regional, and national civics education cohorts and establish strategic partnerships for program development
  • Work flexible hours on evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, based on programming schedules
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Exceptional communicator, with outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, including an ability to multitask, manage budgets and timelines, and proactively follow through on projects
  • Ability to engage diverse perspectives and develop content and programming that is accessible and approachable to NLM’s wide student and teacher audience in urban, suburban, and rural communities
  • Working knowledge of the School District of Philadelphia and local/regional school districts and youth-focused organizations
  • Experience developing and implementing curriculum and aligning with national and state education standards for upper elementary, middle, and/or high school
  • Demonstrated pedagogical and strategic approach to museum education programs
  • Proven ability to think strategically and identify opportunities for program growth
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, museum studies, or related field
  • Four or more years of experience working in education or museums, classroom experience and/or teaching certification preferred

 

Salary

Salary is negotiable with experience in a range of $55-65,000.
