Educator Open House: Educators in Action

Kick off the new school year with the National Liberty Museum as we celebrate, uplift, and inspire our network of educators through a special Educator Open House event. Teachers, administrators, and school faculty receive free admission to the Museum for the entire day, with a full program of special events, receptions, pop-up talks, field trip demonstrations, educator resources, raffles, and more. Programs and resources will specifically highlight media literacy, research skills, and curricular connections to our newest exhibition: truth*.

PROGRAM EVENTS

TEACHER AS HERO AWARDS CEREMONY | 11:00 AM

Teachers from around the country will be honored during the Museum’s annual Teacher as Hero Awards. Winners have been selected for the categories of Exceptional Teacher Award, Caring Classroom Award, and Good Neighbor Award and will be celebrated on-site at the National Liberty Museum and streaming online.

On-site ceremony will be restricted to winners and their guests, but Educator Open House attendees can view the ceremony streaming on a screen in the Liberty Learning Lab.

CREDIBILITY CRASH COURSE FIELD TRIP DEMONSTRATION | 1:00 PM

Participate in an exclusive demonstration of our newest field trip program: Credibility Crash Course. Rooted in media literacy, research, and the themes highlighted in our truth* exhibition, this interactive workshop equips students with the knowledge and skills to investigate the currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose of the sources and information they are faced with every day.

YOUNG HEROES OUTREACH PROGRAM PARTICIPANT RECEPTION | 3:00 PM

Teachers and administrators who are participating in our Young Heroes Outreach Program (YHOP) for the 2022-2023 school year are invited to an exclusive reception to kick off the new year and meet educators from other participating schools. Light refreshments will be provided, and pre-registration is required.

Reception will be restricted to YHOP participating teachers, administrators, and their guests.
