Explore the complex practice of liberty through tours of the National Liberty Museum’s permanent and featured exhibitions. Located in the heart of the historic district, the Museum offers a contemporary perspective on the boldest and most innovative concept in American history: that liberty is – and must be – a shared pursuit if it is ever truly to be “for all.” Visitors are invited to engage in discussions about liberty that develop the skills for having meaningful conversation, building empathy, resolving conflict, and collaborating on solutions. We offer a range of on-site and virtual guided tour opportunities and can customize on request, based on areas of interest and connections to exhibition themes. All tours last approximately 1 hour and are suitable for adults, seniors, and college students.

Programs

Guided Museum Tour

Available for on-site and virtual experiences

Explore the meaning of liberty through this comprehensive tour through the National Liberty Museum’s core galleries and current exhibitions. Led by Museum Educators, the group will engage in meaningful discussion on the concept of liberty, its philosophical and historical foundations, and complex issues of liberty today. Visitors will investigate these themes through multimedia presentations, interactive activities, and compelling artistic expressions that help us understand liberty as a concept that is closely linked to our personal values, informed by our lived experiences, and central to the American story.

Featured Exhibition Tour

Available for on-site experiences only

Have a strong thematic connection to one of our featured exhibitions? On our Featured Exhibition Tours, visitors dive deeper into the content, concept, and themes of any featured exhibition currently on view. Following an introduction to the Museum and the foundations of liberty, Museum Educators lead the group in a comprehensive investigation of the featured exhibition and visitors are provided with more time and space to explore intriguing case studies, hands-on interactives, and meaningful discussion topics.

Tours are available for any exhibitions that are currently on view. Click here to browse our current exhibitions.

Featured Exhibition Tours include the Museum’s Flame of Liberty, replica Liberty Bell, and the selected featured exhibition. Groups booking this program will have the option to self-guide through the rest of the galleries during museum operating hours.

Curator’s Tour

Available for on-site experiences only

Curator’s Tours led by our Exhibitions team provide an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at our featured exhibitions and the exhibition development process.
